Up on the big stage, launching my new book The Odyssey of Echo Company at a packed historic City Opera House in my hometown of Traverse City, MI with my editor and longtime friend Colin Harrison. More than 600 people attended, buying 450 books. I'm a lucky man, and now you can pick up your copy wherever books are sold.

As they neared the former battle site where Stan Parker and Tom Soals saw combat, Stan and Tom met people who remembered the Americans' presence in the area. Today, while these memories are vivid for both Americans and Vietnamese, the meetings were happy ones. Behind Stan is a river crossing which the Recon Platoon forded in 1968, 46 years earlier. . . #odysseyofechocompany #vietnam
